A landscape master plan and the design of three gardens were conceived for the Villa Saletta estate, whose 700 hectares nestle in the hills around Pisa and are imbued with ancient anthropic history. Former property of the Riccardi family, bankers of the House of Medici, it is undergoing some deep restoration that will turn it into a luxury holiday destination by Terra Firma Capital Partners Ltd (London). The centennial Tuscan history has inspired the project, which aims at safeguarding and also reintroducing ancient tree species. New hospitality facilities are on the cards, paying attention to revitalize the traces left by history and reopening ancient routes across the woods. These will allow visitors to walk in the footsteps of the unique history of the place, rather than go for a horse or bicycle ride to clearings, ponds and other scenic beauties. The three gardens are close to historical farmsteads, offering them privileged views and adding volumes through the colours of the progressive seasonal blooming, water pools, pergolas, intriguing and evocative promenades. Such “enchanted places” are spellbound also thanks to the theatre-like lighting with a natural effect. Nature in its quintessential spirit and history infuse the project ideas, deeply involving the human soul.

Villa Saletta Gardens
