DESIGN Paola MacchiPHOTOGRAPHY Niccolò BiddauIn Turin, the project dedicated to the guestrooms for the engineering company Geodata achieved the perfect match between use flexibility and room brightness. The building hosting the lodgings dates back to the ‘70s. Preexistent subdivisions that created suffocating rooms were pulled down and a full redesign of the apartment was made possible. The new rooms open up on the airy hall and living room and are defined by wooden partitions which are cabinets. These recreate a boiserie and articulate the volumes in the space. Such volumes are made in bamboo in the bathroom, thus allowing a continuity with the parquet, but another one was lacquered in blue in coordination with the Geodata logo. Upon opening, they look like “precious boxes” revealing their inner soul, which is upholstered in illuminated glasses. The volume of the steel and transparent/opaque glass veranda allows for a winter garden and contributes to widen space and light.Walls and floors were isolated with heat-proof insulation and sound absorbing material.

A Torino, il progetto per la foresteria della società d’ingegneria Geodata unisce flessibilità per diversi utilizzi e luminosità degli ambienti. L’edificio degli anni ’70 ha consentito la demolizione delle partizioni delle soffocanti stanze esistenti e di ridisegnare completamente l’appartamento. I nuovi ambienti si aprono attorno all’ampio spazio d’ingresso e soggiorno e sono definiti da partizioni in legno costituite da armadiature. Queste si presentano come boiserie, e creano volumi articolati nello spazio. Quelli dei bagni sono uno in legno di Bambù, in continuità col parquet, e l’altro laccato blu, coordinato al colore del logo Geodata: quando si aprono appaiono come “scatole preziose” svelando il loro interno rivestito di vetri illuminati. Il volume della veranda, in acciaio e vetri trasparenti e opachi, contiene un piccolo giardino d’inverno e contribuisce alla dilatazione di spazio e luce.Pareti e pavimenti sono stati isolati con fodere atermiche e fonoassorbenti.
